Shade Guides
Shade Guide Options from Global Dental Solutions
At Global Dental Solutions, we’re here to offer the widest range of shade options to clinicians so they can better serve their patients. Our full-service dental lab is committed to delivering the best solutions for dental restorations, whether you need a full arch fixed detachable or merely a single tooth restoration. From surgical guides and implants to temporaries and complex restorations, we offer the solutions you need to give your patients the smile they’ve been dreaming of. One of the many ways we help enhance patient’s smiles is through the use of multiple shade guides, however, not all patients match a shade guide. Through the use of communication and photos, we can accommodate shades which have more or less Chroma and/or Value than the shade guide in use at your practice. Learn more about our services or call now to speak with one of our friendly representatives about our Vita shade guide.
Optimizing Your Shade Guide Success
We want to set our clinicians up for success when choosing the best shade for their patient’s smile. Shown below are the most common shade guides utilized. However, if you need to use a different shade guide such as a Portrait IPN®, Bioform®, or Esthet•X® HD Trumatch® shade guide, for example, we can accommodate that as well. If you have the guide, we most likely have it too. To communicate shades that vary from the shade guide in hand, utilize photography.
Taking Shade Photos
When taking photos for the laboratory, several things are important to keep in mind. Please check the photos while the patient is still in the office to make sure they’re sufficient for proper shade matching. If the case is for an all-ceramic restoration, please remember to provide a stump shade (shade of the prepared abutment). Send photos to us at photos@globaldentalsolutions.com and be sure to include the doctor’s name and patient’s name in the email.
- The tooth being matched needs to be hydrated. While taking photos, please be sure to keep the tooth wet.
- Make sure the lip is not overlapping the gingival of the teeth or creating a shadow on the gingival area.
- Keep the shade guide tab in the same facial alignment as the tooth being matched. If the shade guide is not in the same alignment as the tooth, the flash will reflect differently off each and alter the comparison.
- Make sure there is not a large flash reflection on either the tooth surface or shade guide tab surface.
- Blurry photos are difficult to use.
- Use as much natural light as possible.
